Hunter MahanThe Open (1-6)0.75pt ew66/1Paddy Power
A rare ante-post from ourselves. We expect Mahan to go well this week and we also expect him to play well at Birkdale. He loves the Open and it would be no surprise to see him improve on his 6th from last year. His price will drop with another good finish this week (Posted 02/07/08)
Soren HansenEuropean Open0.75pt ew22/1Bet 365
A new venue this week so where do we look for inspiration? It is a Nicklaus design so players with good form on other similar Nicklaus designs is a start. Sam Torrance shot -10 in 3 rounds to win on the Seniors here so we need players who can also go low and, of course, we need players in good form. Step forward Soren Hansen who ticks all our boxes, take the 22/1.
Richard GreenEuropean Open0.75pt ew35/1Stan James
Green has had a poor year by his standards but he does have a 4th and 6th place finish in his last 4 starts. He is more than capable of shooting birdies and eagles and going low and on his day is as good as/better than most in the field. Will not be put off by whatever the weather brings and we think a solid bet at 35/1.
Charl SchwartzelEuropean Open0.5pt ew45/1Stan James
Schwartzel ranks high in the "par-breakers" category and we think that you will need to go low this week to win. He comes into this event off the back of two Top 10 finishes and if he takes to the course could go very well this week. Our only concern is his poor record in England.
Graeme McDowellEuropean Open0.5pt ew50/1Bet 365
Soren Hansen overtook McDowell in the Ryder Cup rankings in Paris last week and we're confident that McDowell will want to regain momentum. His game is in solid shape with two Top 20s in his last 3 starts and we'll take himto continue that form this week and hopefully go a bit better.
